On Sunday we dropped down to a creek where three stags were exchanging roars but a puff of wind upstream betrayed us. It then changed to SW so as a last try we dropped packs and headed uphill to a bit of tussock roaring with the horn. Next thing it's pouring down and we were soaked, but we thought we heard a couple of grunts on a very steep scrub face.
