A good stag from some hungry country, then another good stag and an average one that had a sore leg

No one else hunting? Stags were going crazy last weekend…

    Cleaned him up, scores 314

Interesting comparing the skull of the two above, the big one is heavily fused, the smaller one still obviously stitched which I understand means skull is still growing.

I was out in North Canterbury on Thursday a week ago with my son and we spent quite a bit of time watching quite a big stag feeding with a spiker.

I’m certainly no expert but would have thought if they were close to roaring then these two would not be standing together feeding.

It takes around 3 hours to walk out of this area, which we did after dark, and didn’t hear a murmur on the way out - but did see two hinds and a yearling feeding on the side of the road within a couple of minutes of getting back in the car.

Yup, echos my experience earlier this week, heard 1 distant roar, got one reply then nothing....it was rather warm and North West so not really surprising.

Well the one above was from north Canterbury area and they were going nuts all day. Reasonable density of hinds and stags however

No doubt, just the day I went it was very quiet. I'm sure they are fired up. Just not on the day I was out.
