Think this is his brother or uncle - they're definitely the same blood.
He gave us the slip several times during the week and tormented us with his roars across the valley every night.
I ended up sneaking into his bedroom and shooting him at 15 yds, he still hasn't seen me.

Shot a couple more, but they're not that exciting. Just old.

    Cheers

Beautiful stag mate, but on the contrary to your last point I think old stags are some of the most fascinating buggers out there. They don't get to go backwards by being dumb.

Cool Stag there mate. I have shot one very similar to that with the same bent brows in the Southern Ruahines. Good chance they're from the same general area.

Nice old cull with the boys today. Pretty exciting stuff, had 4 bucks croaking around us, a couple walked past less than 50 yards away in full rut mode. This one came to about 30 yards away and I shot it as it walked up on us. Boys watched the whole thing play out, they were stoked.

Public land buck I took recently. He was chasing some does while croaking his head off. GPS said I chased him for about 2.5km before getting into 70m when he held up on the edge of some thick stuff. Gun is a CZ 550 lux in 9.3x62 using 293gr RWS UNI classic's.

    Hot rub.

Tracking a stag and a couple of hinds into this labyrinth when I came across this rub. I could smell him at this point so I continued and not 40m further on I heard something moving through the bush. Evident from the tracks earlier, my roars had got him to drive his girls away so I opted to hind call. Instantly could hear multiple deer moving in, caught a glimpse of his tops (at least 3 a side) at 25m. He was no more than 15m away but still completely obscured and I knew it was only seconds before he was in view and I could send off my shot. Just then to my right up pops a hinds head at 10m. I kept still hoping he would clear the thick shit and come into my lane, which would be no further than 5m from me. As he made it to around 10m from me, the hind busted and he followed suit. No chance for a shot. Still a great hunt.
