Some from the weekend. Not on DOC land, so they don't count in my mind- but I'm not a trophy hunter in any event so the meat is the point of the exercise.

My first roaring sika, pretty young animal but will make good salami. Next time will be looking for a better set of head gear. Awesome experience, stags going nuts round camp overnight.
It took all roar to get a stag. 26 April and he roared and had a hind.

Nice one.
Couple of roars heard today...some cool interactions in the bush with 5 stags seen and 1 shot.....fantastic indications from the dog, with me stuffing the first one.... but this one didnt get away... bush very dry and challenging with extra leaf litter around, but then we could also hear the stags moving about too....

its been a strange roar eh Hamish. 2 days ago (26th) I saw a stag (a poor head) herding 6 hinds and yearlings. It's pretty late for that.

This fella got the slip on me earlier in the month, Tracked him down last Saturday, wasn't so lucky this time.
Hot Barrels and tight lines
2 stags still going well on sunday in canterbury .most of the young stags were all mobbed up with a few pestering the hinds
Was nice to take a day of leave to make a long weekend with ANZAC day.

Sorry team, ive hung the stag hunting boots up this year. 1st time in 20 odd years I haven't gotten right into it.
Guided the brother in on a couple and what not.
Walloped a couple with the .357 as ive been in native pig hunting but that's about it, been flat out chasing the hogs around with the dogs so the poor 7mmsaum is retired to the safe.
See a few nice looking stags you chaps have walloped, good work and happy hunting.
