Public land. 72km round trip on the legs.
Measured 39 inches on the longest side.
Hi Barry and Gibo
His nuts seemed normal as were his feet. He is only a 3yr old looking at his teeth which were all in perfect condition with little wear. His body condition was very good for the area. I have shot a similar one about 3 kms away about 5 years ago as well. I shot this one across the valley (200m) from the stag with the curly tops in the attached photo Attachment 271221
@Monk You just never know, eh. Some good heads come out of the area.
I dont recognise that spot :) Doesn't look like its in the reserve.
Mr @Monk has a certain type of geographical dyslexia, terrible affliction :)
bloody good effort cuzz

In last 6 weeks fallow spiker, red hind, red stag ***** well there's a good story to tell about that one, red spiker and now this red stag.
Great hunt in the pouring rain and has seen a good stag and roared him in and shot at 50m and turns out to be this one I hadn't seen previously

3 roars in a row of hunting this public land area, coming up empty.
This guy was holding hinds, and no good head despite his age, so right one to take I guess.
My first roaring stag too. @Micky Duck - was on big slip.

@scotty yet again the fruit of you taking me under your wing.
You've done all the hard yards over the last few years so I'd say you've earned it..... Theres a big one out there with your name on it
This guy came into a roar. A few heehaws over night but pretty quiet during the day. Looking forward to some rain this weekend, dry as in the bush.

Took a 50cal cap lock to the Tops for a few days. Homemade powder, ball and patch. Figured he was a good one to take out of the Gean pool. Attachment 271788
How old do you think he was Tasbay? Pedicles look high like a younger animal.
Awesome to see the muzzle loader out in the hills
Sitting in my camp seat having a coffee, keeping the old patrol company at 7.30am this morning wandering where all the deer at gone.Heard no roars thru the night.Well bugger me days, heres this stag walking slowly across the river bed in my direction, well about 200yds down from me.His body language says he had a hard night on the piss or the girls.I thort this should be easy,200yds.Off the bonnet of the truck, lined him up as he was getting closer to some heavy broom.Bang down he went only a wee 10,big body.Lot of fat on him, should tast ok,not a stinky yet.
Sat out all night, only seen 2 deer in the distance,no roars.
