Thread: stained spiker

Shot this spiker 2 weeks ago. Never seen one with a belly stain like that in September. Anybody else seen such a thing?

Nothing strange , seen it plenty of times coming out of winter

Mmmm. I have seen a little bit in the past, but not this much. Obviously our deer are usually far cleaner up this way - not like those dirty Sth Islanders.

Mmmm those north lslanders that shoot one a year prob dont see what the guys in the south island see

Finally got out for a walk huh!

Spiker I got on Friday looked the same. Seen that heaps. Once they have finished moulting they will loose the dark piss stain.

I look like that ALL year.....

You are obviously right. I only go out 3-4 times a year. I saw 10 hunters coming out as I was walking in this roar. Watching the huge tops and areas (on TV) that you Sth Islanders have, makes me envious. We mostly have just tight crappy bush in Motu/Wioeka/Raukumara's where I hunt.

On the bright side, I still manage to get a deer most times I go out, so animal numbers are OK up here.
