Thread: Stewart Island boat charter

Hi guys

Looking at some of the northern blocks in Stewart Island for a hunt sometime next year.

Have been there on a fixed wing before but want to try a different block this time.

Hoping someone on here will know someone in Bluff or Invercargill that does water transports over there. If you could give me a contact that would be awesome.

I know Matt Atkins and Alina have water Taxis operating out of Oban catering for hunters transfers.

Not much to add, ferry to the island and water taxi out to the block, or an operator direct out of bluff to the block third option would be helicopter. Depending on the block you could get a fixed wing landing on the beach

Silly question sort of related to this.
I realise that its not possible to take cars across the ferry but can a motorbike go? To expensive to be worth it and maybe not worth the hassle?
Thinking ahead of going down on the motorbike and how handy it would be on the island for the few k's that are there if I stay in Oban, but would still have to have it locked up in Bluff If I couldn't.

U can get them on the ferry no idea of cost. Cars come over on the frieght boat ($750 return) you can get scooters over here

My guess is it probably not worth it. The money I save on fuel getting down there would go up in smoke getting it across for not a lot of gain.
Scooter thing worth a think though
