    load of horse shit.
I would imagine that the poison they drop to get the deer would be more of an issue than the deer themselves

To stop dogs raiding chook nests we use mustard injected into them, curry would be a good deterrent for deer raiding nests...and adds nice flavour to offal.

Of course it will but there are 170 of them and DoC will probably be happy killing 100 to prove a point.

He would definitely have been making hand motions as if feeding chooks when he said it.

No, it is a strange but true fact that deer will eat chicks to get the nutrients they need for antler growth.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

I have seen red deer eat ducklings and a hedgehog eat baby turkeys that had been mowed with an orchard mower

Instead of the green rain DoC could do a flyover and dump a load of day old chicks...yellow rain
