Thread: Stoney Creek live chat Wapiti

So those on facebook go to Stoney Creek NZ page and there is a recording on there from the live chat from last night. Wapiti, Fiordland, ballots and wildlife management. I have not seen it myself yet, tried to watch live last night but my internet not good enough. Think there was discusion about this years ballot and what will happen after lockdown regarding management of the Wapiti.

Couple points i took out of it that i think are relevant to not just Fiordland are:

-Do you want those antlers on the wall, if so start looking at how old it is, how full the body is, depth of coronets, potential, and whether the herd benefits more having the animal left than if you take it.
-If you want a meat animal, shoot a hind/cow and not a stag/bull.

It is a good listen and anyone thinking of a Wapiti Block really should give it a whirl.
