    A stroll down the road

    Went for a Nosey today.

Tried to get the monkey off my back with the redskins.

Shot my first tahr a fortnight ago(nanny) during which I hit a red yearling high with my 284 and couldn't find it( saw it drop on the spot no less but couldn't find it at all as seen by another forum member).

Anyway so today comes and goes and I think flip the wind is dead right for where I plan to go for a hoon.

Grab the model 7 7mm08(sips chai latte) and off I go.

Start hunting, get to a clearing ish patch of Bush and feel the need to go for a wonder.

2 seconds later crash ,crash, I walk on and wait. Look down and then a few mins later a redskins rear end appears.

No shot and it buggers off.

This happens twice more albeit no sighting and more animals.

Then I get to a clearing, spot 6 animals.

Range them. Just out of range so I hoon along and close the distance.

I can see them just but with a terrible rest.

So I take a compass bearing to them and then range them. Mark on GPS.

Make way closer to close the distance.

Follow my inbuilt compass( my time possuming pays off )

And get to a key point.

Low and behold redskins rear ends 200 ish away.

I close the distance for a better rest.

Out with the shooting sticks. I go from one to another as they feed and do or don't present shots. Finally a yearling is almost ready for some Sierra therapy. Then she buggers off out of my view. So onto the hind nearby. I feel myself being watched so low and behold the yearling is there staring at me.

Time to act. Or it's game over.

Sticks on deer, she's 8-3 with her head at 3 o clock.
    Scope on x8 power.
Crosshairs touch just behind the right shoulder and boomfa.

160gr tmk impacts at 2200fps at 130y to the point I saw the skin ripple from the round.

Deer jumps. Set compass to last known sighting, ping last known sighting.

A few minutes later one very humanely dispatched deer.
    Exit wound is 3inches wide.

Using a fly and a sleeping bag during the warmer months.

Or from a hut and no fly I'd use it for overnighters
