    Success !

Just really wanted to say thanks to everyone who's chipped in with advice over the last few months . learnt heaps on what to do /Not do , this place is a gold mine of valuable information !

I managed to get up the rangitata over the past weekend with a mate from methven .

Found a nice looking stream and spent a couple hours walking up looking for a decent place to make camp. As soon as we made camp we started spotting tahr and began to hatch a plan for the morning.
We stalked our way up a rough looking scree slope to try close the gap , as we got down to 200m much to my surprise I spotted another tahr poking its head up right across the scree slope from me.

I stood there still for a few seconds expecting it to bolt as it was only 100m away staring straight at us , eventually i managed to drop my pack and get a solid rest. I took the shot and he dropped .

Pretty stoked to get my first game animal !

no idea how to rotate this ?

    Well done young fellah!

Nice mate I got my first Bull that up the Rangitata a few weeks ago. Quite nice getting close to them instead of just watching them on the very tops.
