    Sunrise could be very busy this time of the year.

    I believe theres a full time Hut warden in residence over the summer.

    I'd head for Longview or Waipawa forks but even these can be popular huts this time of year.

    Good Luck

    Happy Daze or Awatere could be another good choice but I'm not sure about your 5 year old making it.
