    Tahr Hunting

Just wondering has anyone been out to Bush stream near mesopotamia station or south around that area tahr hunting. Was wanting to know if there's still big bulls up there?

Theres always bulls up there, some of them big. The bulls will all be mobbed up together for the summer, and down lower. And the nannies and kids will be higher. Great spot to hunt but it gets a lot of traffic from TA walkers and others, as well as hunters. No need to climb high in the summer unlees youre after nannies for meat, look down in the scrub, in the cool spots. And when you find one bull, you'll find a whole heap of them. And then you will have heaps of empty country until you find the next bull group.

Two hours up behind the hut and head west into the bluffs. For some reason this often gets overlooked - maybe cos you walk past animals to get there. Usually something decent on the way, or when you get there. Son in law got lucky last year with this almost 13 inch bull

Was in there in May with a guy who knows it better than most and definite lack of big bulls from what we saw. Plenty of foot traffic though
