I'm looking at coming over to do a tahr trip in late spring, and at this stage the Liebig Range/ Burnett mountains Area is on the shortlist , I've never been in there but looking at topomaps there looks like some good huntable country in there. I'd rather walk in than fly, and looking at few reports on the web it seems that the boats on the glacier lake will drop off climbers (and hopefully hunters) to allow foot access to the area.
Has anyone hunted in there recently, what are tahr numbers generally like and being in the National Park does DOC cull it regularly.
Any advice or comment would be appreciated
