Tararuas

Hey guys,

Anyone been up in the Tararua Forest Park before for deer or goats? I could use some tips on access worth exploring...there seem to be about a billion options! I want to take out a borrowed 7mm08 for an afternoon hunt tomorrow. Weather forecast is for rain from noon onwards and unfortunately this is the only time I can get out!

Rimutakas are another option, I've been there via the incline before but it's very scrubby/goarsey so not sure if off the beaten track on a rainy day is a good option.

Thoughts? Much appreciated!

Dougie, recent green rain in Rimutakas (but you know about that already)

Keep an eye out for the pig hunting hordes tomorrow, the annual Rimutaka tavern pig hunting compo is on, weigh-in at 15H00 tomorrow I think.

Also, don't stay out too long... NZ Army live firing exercise in Akatarawa forrest from 08H00 to 17H00 from 23 to 26 Oct...

Will PM you about some access options.

Hopefully it'll be a fun afternoon. I am just taking on some calories (cold left overs) then off to work for the morning, then packing up the boy, the man and his friend and seeing what we can see! Hurrah! report to come
