Adam there are so many other places rather than just Clements road .
grab a spot x book if you haven't already got one?
Just pick a spot and get to know it if there is no sign move on.
look for roads that go into Doc land and start from there.
I have hunted down that way a lot and I have never been into Clements road.
Why because everybody else goes there.
I was lucky I have good friend who is a local down there and he showed me a couple of spots and sent me on a lot of little adventures by marking my topo maps with pencil.
heaps of spots to camp and hunt thru whole area down to desert road and western side of lake and south from there.
Think more than 40 mins away from MacDonald's.
