Thread: Taupo range?

Hey guys happy new year to you all
I know this has been asked before but I'm thinking of heading down to taupo in the morning and going for a walk through Clements mill road end but would like to stop in at the taupo range first to see if she's shooting straight,will it be open or what's the deal?can any Joe blog rock up and let off some rounds or do I need to contact someone first?this will be the first time on the range aswel

Should be good to go.

Non Members are welcome and there is a range fee to be paid, was $2 last time I was there.

Yes, just rock up.
I've shot as early as 8am.
Gold coin donation is all that is required if not a member.
Just follow safe range use if others are around, ie agree and call out when range is closed to allow you to go forward.

Cheers mate do you take your own targets or are they supplied?is there all ways someone there?

Take your own targets and clean up before you leave

He'll yes, gold coin donation is awesome. The hassle here in Christchurch is unreal even to sign up - Gadgetman is a life saver.

just got home from an interesting couple of days,started off driving down to the taupo range and being the first one to arrive and not been there before i can say i was a little unsure of what to do,lucky the guy that lived there came out to mow his lawns and said just jump the fence and go for it,met a good bloke there sighting in his imported 1000ftps air rifle,fancy piece of kit it was,after sending 20 or so rounds through the 308 and i was happy,and made my way to clements mill rd but road was closed so rung up a mate in rotorua who put me onto a farm that backed into the horohoro bluff,went for a walk around the pines and saw plenty of sign but no animals to be seen,by that time it was 3 oclock and i was starting to roast,next plan was to get hold of some friends from whakatane and a few cold ones were sunk that night and another hunt was planned for private land in ruatoki valley early the next morning so up at sparrows fart we were off,prime location wind was perfect a bit of sign around and stories of locals filling there trailers with samba and rusa we didnt see or hear a thing but oh well better luck next time,out of the bush at mid night then long drive back to hamilton

but yes the taupo range was great and we need more like that i think,
