Anyone know the status of the Tauranga DOC office in Greerton? Went past the other day, still has signwriting but doesn't look very open. Where do we go for access advice etc now if that's not open?
Cheers

Got a funny feeling it closed some time ago, with all dealings via Te Aroha.
Talked to a DOC fella today, he actually asked to see my permit, first time ever I've had to produce it. He said it's closed to the public. Everything is basically online or in local info centres
ring them tell them you were hunting in the Kalmias and you found a strange bird dead - blackish and had a long curved beak I think it may be a huia - they will be around to talk to you like a shot have dead black bird ready - yes in jest but poor form on DOC,s part- they work for us looking after our public estate
Don't think you can ring direct either, called over slip damage to local section of Te Araroa Trail. Called local office, went thru to DOC Southland, Operator stated calls are forwarded to first available and would take message to forward on. 4 hours later received a call back from local DOC person. This was 2 years ago.
It's open. DoC has been stripped out so minimum staff available. Permits best done online
Not everyone has a printer ay. DoC are a screwup.
And that is a big assumption of all Govt Dpt as well as most businesses these days.
However you can download the permit into your phone or save it in your phones email.
And if you tell me you don't take your phone hunting with you, your bloods worth bottling
Hunted for decades with no ph, no epirb; just compass and map. Posted permit carried in pack flap. NZ's gone mad.
Yeah. Wore out a couple of those. Used apeture sight on the first one and aittle 2 1/2 POWER Bushel on the next. That scope took many beatings and the rear lens rim was repeatedly resealed with clear nail polish, but it never lost zero.
