TB Vector Control Operation in Kaimanawa RHA.........

Seems the Kaipo area is due for a repeat treatment. Deer repellent will be used, but still dodgy for dogs, of course.

Was just talking to an ospri guy on the phone. They will be using Deer repellent. He reckons it reduces bykill down to 10 percent. They are also giving out free muzzles for your hound. Not defending the drop just putting the information out there.

The drop back then was followed by very heavy rain. Apparently that dropped the kill rate big time.

The Oamaru Kaipo jct is known as Te Rauti. It was a major base for eel capture by Maori. The tributaries of the Oamaru and Mohaka are still great for eel. These waterways drain east.
On the west side of Te Iringa klie the headwaters of the Waitahanui, Hatepe, Tauranga Taupo, Waimarino and Waiotaka which are all major trout habitats and drain into L.Taupo.

1080 won’t harm eels, fresh water crayfish or trout at aerial application rates.
