    TEKAPO!

    Hey everyone!
Just arrived in Tekapo for couple nights with family, does anyone know something fun
And affordable to do other than the hot pools, etc?

    Cheers

The Japanese restaurant is the best place to eat by a wide margin. Walk\drive up to Mt John for a coffee with a view.

I think it's $5 per person to drive up Mt John to the observatory. Offes a great view of surrounding area on a clear day. Pricey if you take the tour.
4 WD? Drive up to the Macauley on East side of lake.
Or drive just past airport and take the first right. Braemar Rd. Takes you through abit more tussock country, bringing you out halfway up Lake Pukaki

Go and see Headcase. Tekapo Cottages, down a little side road o the right just before the church of the good shepherd. He is a wonderful host and will put you onto all sorts of interesting things. Tell him Bruce sent you.

    Cheers

As well..... If you go up to the top end of Lake Alexandrina, there's a group of about a dozen huts. They're camped on Scott's Stream. All the trout go up there to spawn. Might be abit late, but they were up there a couple of weeks back tagging etc. there might still be a few hanging around if that's your thing

The Macauley probably could be done with AWD car sometimes.... But not recommended, unless it's a company car or your not to precious about it. Braemar Rd is a good shingle road. No dramas there

You could drive to the motor shed at the Macauly in your Nana's Honda Civic, but not the river valley itself in anything other than an actual four wheel drive.

I guess I was abit vague sorry.
You could also have a crack at one of the canal salmon.

Headcase might take you up the Macauley. He has this shit Rodeo wagon that seems indestructible, and he has an indomitable spirit. You must go and see him.
