In light of the thread i bought a Kennard from Skippersmate, a few weeks ago. I was thinking about it for a while, and i tend to go solo a bit. My family and this forum pushed me over the edge.
The next thread will be about plb placement seeing someone on here said it souldnt be on your belt.

Mines on my belt most of the time but depends on which pack I'm using as it can interfere with the hip belt
Ive had a close call where the rotten log i was walking on fell away and i was caught by my pack. I could see if i was seperated from the pack in the fall, that wouldnt be ideal.
I think i need to set it up on the bino harness.

Been interesting following this thread. As posted earlier I’ve set mine off 3x over the years, not for myself but to help others, and it’s saved people from bad outcomes. These days I carry a plb whenever I go for a hunt even if it’s only up the back of the farm. You ever know when things are going to turn to custard on you and I don’t feel so bulletproof these days. I carry my plb in a zipped chest pocket of my hunting top which I always wear. I used to carry one on a belt but lost a couple this way, once lost belt and knife as well because buckle came undone. Anyone remember the PELT PLB from years ago. Carried one in backpack for a while but lost the pack once when I took a tumble down a hill once, made me think about things that did. I don’t really like backpacks for bush hunting and usually use a bumbag but thought maybe I could lose that in a tumble, haven’t so far but you never know. Chest pocket feels most secure to me. Others may prefer storing in bino bags but I never particularly liked chest harness gear in another life so not for me. Just store your plb where you’re confident it’s going to stay, hopefully you don’t get to find out if it was the right place. Just my 2c.
My mate who shall remain nameless, was in the scrub last week and decided to use the test function on his PLB and test it he did. Less than 15 minutes later a machine was on the helipad to check the alert. We have a great service and I always carry mine an encourage others to as well.
We ues InReach for work and have about 30 active. They get used maybe 5 times a year for non emergency but internal help required. We've had 2 occasions where they probably should have been used. Once the team didn't take it out of the ute and into the ATV and had a roll-over. The other was a two vehicle crash and a local headed up to the nearest farm house - we found the InReach when we got the truck back with the dirty side down.
