    Time off. What to do?

I have 9 days off from 26 January to 3 February and have no plans. Wife is working. So, what to do? I'm thinking of a road/hunting trip. I'm based in Northland which is as far away from good hunting as you can get, so it will be a drive south, but don't want to spend the whole time driving. I'd rather not fly. It's not just cost, but luggage restrictions and no car at the other end. Happy to do a few nights in the bush at a time, then back out for resupply. Also happy to pay for it (hunting I mean!), but not in to hunting fenced in animals.

I could just drive south with my Spot X book and see how it goes, but I have a feeling it wouldn't work out too well.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers.

Talk to some help operators and see if you can get a cheap back flight into somewhere and walk out. Urewera, Kaimanawa or kawekas would all be good options.

Urewera is your best bet. I would try flying into duck ville hut. Shouldn't be too expensive.

Thanks for the replies. Flyblown has been very generous with information, far beyond what I was asking for, or expecting to receive, so I'll go with his recommendation.

Mighty Boosh is/was an excellent British TV show (although, with no disrespect intended, if you're over the age of 40 you may think "what the hell am I watching")

Yes, slightly long (and boring) story about my username that involves a jetski. I don't consider myself mighty and you can call me Andrew

Not a tow rope, tied off to a floating platform and it's not a peski, it's a pure fish killing machine!
