Planning a bit of a trip later in the month and my boy is fizzing to tag along. I know I will need to carry him haha so wondering has used any decent packs?
We have a general hiking baby pack up to 20KG. He is 17KG..
Not going hard out but more to go walking, hear a stag and if we are real lucky...

We’ve got the Macpac one which goes up to 20kg. You can spend a lot more than a Macpac one but they’ve got good reviews.
Heaps second hand as well normally.
haha yeah the only thing is too for gear aswell. Maybe just a big pack and have his head sticking out
Yup, ditto. We bought the more expendy one (storage underneath) and rate it. Plenty on Facebook marketplace for around $200ish.Quote:

The Macpac possum is a good unit. The one we've been using is an older one, got it second hand from family friends.
Enough storage for a day trip, Might need a wheelbarrow for the rest of your overnight gear.
+1 on Macpac possum pack used it for our 3 kids then passed it on great for day walks and fishing
Yep did a fair bit of trout fishing with our girl on my back in one of those macpac jobs. Upside was got to go fishing and spend time with her. Downside was her laughing in my ear every time I dropped a fish haha.
We had a Kathmandu carrier. It was expensive and the boy wouldn't stay in it for long. I think it was well designed though. 17kg is not an insignificant amount to carry, so get him to walk as much as possible.
I've got an osprey poco, has abit of storage, abit pricey, but really comfortable for both parties
We had one of the older Macpac child carrier backpacks, with the pack storage underneath. You can still get them on Marketplace etc. Very good and worked well, but not enough storage capacity for overnighters.
Have the macpac one. It’s done a lot of trips between my two boys. It is rated to 20kg but I can attest to it being able to carry a fair bit more. I’ve done several overnight trips using it to carry a kid and our gear.Attachment 270176
