    Too late? 23rd April, tewharaeparae range roar trip

    Going up for 9 days on April 23rd to hunt the old stag. ( only time that fitted ).
    North gisborne... am I going to miss the roar or hopfully catch the tail end ?

    Just remember this
    They are still there (apart from from a few taken by prior hunters)
    My best hunting was always that period when the Roar appeared to have stopped and Hinds were let loose and Stags wanted to feed normal again
    Still a % of Hinds will cycle that missed the 1st 2nd cycles - so you can still hear the odd vocal flare up
    23rd (I remember this date well one year) late morning - hot fine day - Stags went ballistic
    That night out on the Hauhongaroa Range - was a night I will never forget
    We had the place to ourselves
    Next day - silence
    Their last farewell for that Roar obviously
