Going up for 9 days on April 23rd to hunt the old stag. ( only time that fitted ).
North gisborne... am I going to miss the roar or hopfully catch the tail end ?

Just remember this
They are still there (apart from from a few taken by prior hunters)
My best hunting was always that period when the Roar appeared to have stopped and Hinds were let loose and Stags wanted to feed normal again
Still a % of Hinds will cycle that missed the 1st 2nd cycles - so you can still hear the odd vocal flare up
23rd (I remember this date well one year) late morning - hot fine day - Stags went ballistic
That night out on the Hauhongaroa Range - was a night I will never forget
We had the place to ourselves
Next day - silence
Their last farewell for that Roar obviously
Way more action then sitting on the couch at home
Konus binoculars " The power to imagine"
Never too late.....never!
