    Tramper dies in Waioeka

Not sure how many heard that a tramper was killed when he slipped off the track just before the Nikau hut in the Waioeke gorge a week back. This hut is the next one up from where the BOP forum hunt group went in prior to Xmas. I have been across that slip a number of times - it is a shitty little piece with no handholds, a foot wide track, and a straight drop onto the rocks. Just goes to show that we should all take care out there. He was 75 years old and fit as a buck rat - just rolled on a stone! My condolences to his family.

Yeah, there are a few sections of track in that area that I prefer to do in the dark, so I can't see how far I would tumble.

Thanks for sharing that Lentil. RIP to the old guy and condolences to the family.

I think you are right Barefoot. Although it is sad to learn of their demise, I think it is fantastic that they were / are still out there doing it.
