Came across this fresh rubbing on a pepperwood yesterday, I was slightly surprised as I thought this was normally a velvet stripping and pre-roar activity? any ideas ? My thought was possibly trying to cast an antler?

I reckon Rushy had an itchy ass crack?
If it was a stag rubbing velvet and it appears reasonably fresh, there should be some on the ground around the base or caught up on the tree. If not I reckon your right and its from an animal trying to cast.

Deer rubbing is one thing but when they start leaving their beer keg carbon dioxide bottles lying about that is just plain tardy
I came across a fresh Sika scrape two weeks ago. Same place I had seen a six pointer the week before.
