Fark it's a long way to the bush! He has to get past the hot pools at Taupo and Tokanu

Good on hunter 308, we all sitting here .... At home......looking at a screen..... And he is out there doing it....hope he gets a deer.::thumbsup:
Home again, well here are the events that unfolded I could not find army road campsite ended up at the road end so I turned around and had another crack at finding it, still drove past it and ended up staying at Clements clearing. had a very rude awakening at 4am when a deer caught its foot on one of the guy ropes on my tent only to send the frigging thing down on top of me and I know it was a deer because the fuckin thing squealed as it did it. Hunted from sun up till just before 2pm when I slipped twisted my ankle and ended up pulling the pin and coming home. Going to try again later in July after the school holidays
:(
Bugger, at least you got there, and back :)
Fark me a close encounter, lucky we don't have bears in NZ good on ya 308, if ya don't try your like me just reading about it!
The tent did survive the ordeal @Pengy
These are the only photos I managed to take today
Good find. Did you solve the mystery?
Built by a bloke called Roger I believe
I didn't actually realise I had photographed the kaimanawa wall until I googled it when I got home as it had me wondering all the way home if it was what I thought it was, I don't even know the story behind it, first I ever heard of it was when I was a member of the other forum and saw it mentioned in a post and have never seen any pictures of it in the past or googled it as I was never curious, now I have to go and do another search and read the story of it.
No story.
It is a natural rock formation. Dozens of them in the area. That particular one is just a bit more symmetrical than others.
The deer running into your tent is a classic 308. Pity it didn't get tangled up in it or you might have come home with a few back steaks. No good about your foot but, should have had a free soak in the hot pools down by the river on spa road.
Set up some snare traps next time bro ;)
was a bit of a prick trying to find my headlamp then fumble around trying to find the zipper on the bug screen then put the poles back up so I could get out of the bloody thing to peg the guy rope back down, as for snare traps no bloody way I will probably catch myself up in them while taking the dozy wander to empty the bladder during the night.
THE END:wtfsmilie:
DATS ALL FOLKS................ Join us again for the next season of "Clements Road - Anyone Keen To Go" STARRING The 308 Kid, and a star studded bunch of assorted good bastards?

Bullshit Rushy, if I was first to NZ that's exactly where I'd crack a rock!:wtfsmilie:
At least you finally got there,, to have a deer run into your tent is classic, I've had wild pigs run through the camp site at times in the middle of the night and up Kiko rd a couple of Sika run past the bivi,,
good to get out in the middle of winter, not every one takes on the conditions you can get.
Good on yah
Yeah mate I enjoyed the trip first chance I got to give the wagon a good run since it got the new head put on it only thing I need to do is replace the diesel filter as it lost power for a few seconds then would come right so must have been a bit of shit coming through from the filter. My son will be coming up on the 7th of next month so won't be doing another trip out to Clements till after the 19th of next month when my son heads back down to Blenheim. But probably wont stay at clements clearing again next round the one bit of bush I wanted to hunt behind the campsite the silence was destroyed by a radio being blasted by some forestry workers planting new pine trees in the cut over on the DoC boundary so will either stay at cream hut campsite, Te Iringa or try and get to Army road. I am going to be trying to get out one or two weekends a month not really worried if no one joins me for a hunt it is not so bad being a novice and going out on your own as it proves you are willing to work your arse off to get a deer and learn from your own mistakes as long as you have a compass, GPS and appropriate clothing to suit the conditions and use your brain then there should not be any problems
I need some info hunter308,...what's the condition of the road?...is there cellphone coverage?...are there campsites pretty much anywhere?...access to water, or did you take your own?...was there much vehicle activity as in drive by hunting during the day and spotlighting at night?
Wtf Spooks on the move! :)
