Trophy Fallow Herd up for 1080 drop!!

Just to let people know that the Fallow population in the Hokonuis is up for a touch up next year from the AHB.
With the massive Trophy potential this area holds it will be a crying shame if this plan goes ahead, the initial plan started with the Dunsdale forest with the ultimate goal to be a TB Free status, an admirable goal and very achievable probably but if it has to be at the peril of this Trophy Herd then it is a sad day for all.
The AHB plan to do the aerial drop in winter 2013 on the rolling hills of the forest but on closer inspection of the proposed area they also plan to drop right on top of the forest that is home to the herd.

Lets hope their plans can be changed before it is to late, deer repellent or not they should leave the Fallow population the hell alone.

    That is criminal MH.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Yes I agree VC. I wonder why people perceive the issue of TB to be so severe in Southland to take such a draconian measure to address it. Smacks of using a mallet to squash an ant to me. I just can't imagine the problem (if indeed there is a problem) is so great that it requires such a wholesale response. It is like lining up B52's wing tip to wing tip and bombing the shit out of the whole country because there is a crazy gook using a slingshot somewhere. OK now I am suitably wound up for the day.

I thought most that herd were found on private land? My mates farms got a shitload running round. Alot of white colour phase in that lot too.

Im sure CD that allot of them are on Andys still but there is allot that are accessible to the keen DA member in the Overton Forest block.
For example my mate took out the NZDA National Comp with a White Buck he got out of said forest which i think i posted on here somewhere, it went 243 by my scoring and another guys and 242 through the DA. This is the smallest head from the 3 that our club has taken out of the area.
There does seem to be a good white strain running in the area though.

An update for you all that may be interested.
Today after many calls, emails, and what not i received a call from the AHB today saying that we have convinced them to recommend to Environment Southland to consider the use of EDR in the drop, so a small win.
Next stop is to hassle Environment Southland to make sure they go with the recommendation and try to get the AHB to change their propose boundary's.

    Cheers
    Mal
