    Trophy Fallow Hunt

With not many options up this way on Doc land just wondering if any has any contacts for a trophy hunt on private land next year North Island. Free range . Doesn't need to be a professional set up where they bring out the wine and cheese
Not the one to pay for a hunt but interested to know what it will cost me

I did Ruatiti Wilderness a few years back with my 2 sons. Had a great time, they got a meat animal each and we were aloud to take a few goat pests as well.
They had some great fallow and reds, Unfortunately I think they may have closed down for now, however someone must still be paying the rates and all the deer must still be there.
Not true free range but very close.

I have a question re self guided hunting from anyone with an opinion, what would be a fair price you would pay to hunt private land that boarders doc land, would have the place to yourselves has reds and fallow a decent hut, take own food, also good fishing river.2 night minimum.
would $1000 for 2 nights for 2,one animal each stag or meat be acceptable?

A fair price would be what you are prepared to pay for it. If you're allowed to take anything, buck, stag, meat etc, then it looks relatively cheap. You have access to private land, and some Public Conservation land - worth a few dollars. You have a hut, a motel would cost you $140+ per night. Access to a river for some fishing. And you dont have to pay for a helicopter. $500 per person is sounding good.

Its something im looking into next year, its a unique place I don't want it to be out of reach for jo blo,the fallow population needs managing but there are some serious reds.genuine 12+bush/doc stags are common and meat animals are almost a given if you know what your doing.id rather not get into the guiding/telling people how to hunt system.Trust is the issue here but im keen to give it a go to benefit all involved.

places I have been charge between $150-$300 for a meat animal and about $30 per person per night in the hut.
That's no guide and typically free range / bordering DOC lands
