The area is getting search and destroy at the moment. Be plenty of deer around in the high percentage spots at the right times

hey 199 its A good spot and the hut has just recently been done up some. it sits top endish of the harkness valley and slightly west. there is a large area to hunt around mainly up and down the harkness valley if you like hunting tussock. the valley is surrounded by mostly bush and if you like to hunt bush you can. bout an hour of so walk south you will run into the harkness hut, or you can walk down to the boyd hut if the river is low enough to allow. it is a pretty popular place at times but there always seems to be sika around. it can get cold and the odd snowfall. all in all a good spot. you will like it.

    PM sent.

Image shows two tracks that I hunted two years ago.

    Both tracks produced Deer.

The shorter one also produced some nice freshly cast antlers of 3 points each.

We were in there in the beginning of November for 5 days and our party of four came home with four deer between us.

    Cheers

Oh and I forgot to say

We got whistled every night when we lit up the gas lanterns inside the hut. It was always from the bush edge above the Hut looking towards Boyds.

One of the boys did a couple of recces up there but couldn't find where it was .... he reckoned he could only found where it had been.

    Cheers
