    Unlawful hunting charge

Good to see a reasonable fine to a 18 year old spotlighting in DOC near nelson. 4000 dollar fine, lost of his 1500 howa riifle, and his 5000 dollar thermal. No word on his FAL but would hope the police have taken that as well. Sure is a expensvie deer

    Well that's good to see!
Just need a few more of those and it will be game over.
Then the courts can start handing out decent penalties on illegal firearm use

Edit this also sets a standard for the rest to follow!

I think if every time someone was caught if the punishment was like this or worse it would slow it down.

Just can't be a one off time it gets dealt out

Likelihood of getting caught decreases offending, not severity of penalty

Did I missread that or was there no punishment for the possession of meth?
Dont get me wrong good to see the illegal huntig taken seriously for a change but thought that might ring a few extra bells too.

Throw the book take everything poaching in all sectors needs to come down hard and fast and make it count. Make an example out of every poacher not just the odd one.

Wonder which 'land owner west ' it was? As i know of one in the area who is known to poach himself , release animals, have cash hunters and send people on to neighbors property's to shoot animals he released , stop vehicles and ask for identification travelling up the public road at night. Also has links to police who hunt his property... Not condoning what these fellas did and a good out come from the judge, but sometimes the kettle does call the pot black and this individual has lived a privileged life and is no better then who he accuses. As the old saying goes " a poacher hates nothing more than another poacher!"

Not at all correct, if the maximum penalty for speeding was $5 I would drive everywhere at the speed I considered safe and reasonable which may or may not be well above or below the posted limit, as it stands now with hefty(for me) fines for speeding and loss of licence I only speed by as much as I think I wont get pulled over by when conditions allow.

We met some one 10 years ago poaching on farm out back of Ashley Clinton, he did not give a shit and made it clear him and others would be back he was intimidated so his truck got set alight and dogs shot then and there. He never came back.
