    Update: Complaint From Neighbour

    Original thread here:
    http://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co.n...eigbour-12524/

To update anyone interested, I received a phone call today from the landowner I shot at to say a Police arms person had been over to talk to them and I had to call him.

    So I called him.
He said that he wasn't going to take any further action, that he didn't want to give a warning or anything, just wanted to give some mediation.
He had talked to the lady who had complained, another person who the lady claimed had complained, and the landowner.
Basically just said, in the future be best not too shoot in the same place where I did, and to notify the neighbour when I was going to be shooting in the future.

It's kind of a good result, but I'm still a bit annoyed.
Annoyed that now even if I want to go out for a walk for 5 or 10 mins, might be miles away from the neighbours land, I'll have to ring her. And if I don't she will probab;y complain and I'll be in proper shit next time.

I can always use my 22 with a silencer, but the place I used to shoot at some steel targets which is miles away from her, I like to use high velocity cause it's cheap, but can't be arsed trying to ring her when I want to do that. I would just put a silencer on my 17hmr, but then it still wont be silent and she might complain again.
Now calling her wouldn't be a problem usually, but the place I shoot has not very much land and is only just down the road so it used to easily pop over for 10-15mins to do some shooting. But now it will be not so easy, only because she has some stupid issue with the land owner and decided to drop me in it.

I'm also annoyed at the fact that if this now stays on my record, if I ever wanted to get my E cat, it may come up, or might count against me if something else comes up, when really the whole issue was over pretty much nothing.

Drop in on the ol' tart with some buttered scones and have a cuppa with her...yep, I know it is suck-holing...but at the end of the day she rules the roost...it doesn't hurt to put your pride in your back pocket once in a while...if all goes well then report back, if the ol' biddy tosses you over the gate then don't tell a soul.

Haha, yeah maybe I'll start ringing at 10 in then night.

I would do these suggestions, but in these circumstances they won't work. She and the landowner now more or less hate each other, and due to the way she is, I'm on their side so she hates me too. It's hard to explain what she's like, but she a complete bitch and a nut job.
She used to give her son frozen peas and frozen fish fingers for dinner. Not your average reasonable person.

Good result considering, wouldn't it be nice if it were always just easy eh?!

Maybe offer her cooking lessons then? She might become your best friend!

so, basicly the police man has to respond to the complaint. it sounds like he knows shes just being difficult by the way he passed the message on to you and said its not even a warning.
id just do your part, phone her to say im going hunting, then she has no leg to stand on in the future. you don't have to listen to her wah on. just say ok, got to go. even if you phone her on Friday and say I will be shooting this weekend. surly no need to phone every day.

Good on the copper. Done his job and kept the peace. Sucks that you have to call her. As mentioned, have a talk to her and see if you can agree to let her know when you are shooting near her place. For al you she might have a attractive daughter or niece that catches your eye.
I don't think this would have an effect on future endorsements as it wasn't even a warning.
A good solution for all concerned

@Toby that was a pretty pathetic post. Is that the best you can come up with? Try and be a bit more creative like baking her some rock cakes and delivering them one at a time through the lounge window

I'd ring her and ring the arms officer each time your going shooting that way you have left a message with both each time ...cover your arse first ..yes your shooting spot is just down the road.. but make the effort,or join club with a range and avoid the hassle.... Yip I hate giving in to unreasonable people but guns and angry neighbours is just a huge pain in the arse... Sorry mate but shit can get crazy fast.

It was a good result, just would have been better if it had never happened.

Maybe if I ring up 3 or 4 times a week she will wish it had never happened lol.
I might just hunt with a silencer and not bother ringing and find another place to shoot targets.

No just let leave a message I'm going shooting at xyz I've rung abc on your recommendation and even so I expect she will still complain to you. No piss off just arse covering, he now has a timed answer phone message from (you having used a cell phone)have a history of contact ... So if shit goes down you have a history of compliance and politeness.

I think ur talking about my crazy ex wife. Separated from her right on FAL time, she called them to say she was afraid because id left the locked gunsafe there until i had my own place. Friendly officer calls me so i remove. Then she rang them again because i had them. Fortunately the above diagnosis was shared by the officer, who called to tell me they'd had the second call. One of the many reasons why I'd left.

Hang on in there my friend. Cover your arse. People like that are unwell, but cross your t's n dot your i's so they never have a legitimate cause. Remember, they might be as crazy as a cut cat, but they're not stupid..

Start shagging her, this way both parties happy and youll be less tense and probably shoot better for it.

Even if shes haggard shell be so nice a cooked meal will be ready after the shooting

Shagging is a great way to resolve conflict
