    USA Hunting 2024

Anyone heading to USA to hunt this year?

I’ve put in for the wyoming elk (bull and cow) draw for my son and I. Will then look at the deer and pronghorn draw depending on the elk draw results. Plan C is over the counter black bear. I’ve booked flights, Ute and horses so now it’s a matter of waiting on the draw results.

If anyone one has questions on USA hunting get in touch. Happy to help.

Very cool. Have you done any write ups here in the past about any overseas hunts?

Are you bow hunting or rifle hunting over there.?
How do you get your horse from and horse gear sorted out?

I've done both. Got a black bear, pronghorn and elk with my bow. But this year I'll be rifle hunting.

I'm renting the horses, and this includes saddles etc, from an place near where I'm hunting. The rental place will drop off and pick up at the start of the track. You can also get the outfitter to take you in by horse, drop you off and come back to pick you up. That's my plan for next year. Of course you can just walk, but why not be a cowboy for a week

Thats interesting, What about horses feed etc? I guess you will have at least 2, one for riding and another for pack. If you don't mind can you tell cost for renting?

We will take some hay and grain with us and have a horse each. On the way in the horse will be loaded with gear and we will also walk. Once camp is set up then ride the horse to find the elk. Cost is $US550 per horse for up to 14 days, plus transport.

If anyone is serious about elk hunting in the US you should watch this video.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQ4q6h2IiOE

Unfortunately its getting bloody hard to draw good tags if you are starting out with no points but there are still opportunities if you have the money to spend and put the research in.

All the USA draws are out and I've got tags for bull elk and buck pronghorn in Wyoming. Will be hunting first two weeks of Oct.

Any one else draw USA tags or heading over there to hunt?

I expect to be spending time in a tree stand in the South Carolina salt marshes in October.

Smallest variety of Whitetail in the US but anytime hunting in a foreign land is time well spent

    Awesome.

Did you hunt Idaho about 10 years ago? The Idaho draw now is pretty crazy where the OTC tags are a queue system on 1 December each year.

That sounds bloody interesting. I've only hunted the western states but keen to head east one day for a new experience.
