    Hi all, HNY!!
I've got 4 days booked with the wife and kids end of Jan camping at Waihi Beach from AKL, I'll be taking the surfcaster etc but just wondering in general is there many wild goats around this area ? Or does it get smashed ? No experience around here usually waikato hence the question

    Thanks in advance

Tommy and I shot some goats in the Waitawheta Valley in Nov 2015, but I strongly discourage hunting up the river at this time of year due to other users being everywhere. You may have some luck, and encounter less users south of the Waitawheta Hut.

    heaps of tourists around.
Next beach along from waihi beach in the Orokawa scenic reserve, follow the DOC track from the surf club, is good for beach fishing.
Keep your eyes off the topless tourists. :p

I have always found everyone takes the first 2 weeks of jan off and then it noticeably quietens down after that. Then end of jan should be ok, kiwi family camping wise but the tourists will still be anywhere worth camping that is close to a road end.

Mid week at that time will be a lot quieter than during the weekends.
