Big 14 from a couple of years back, been safely boxed up from taxidermist for last 12 months waiting for his chance to get to Taupo and go up on the walk. In rating the beast was a blast, I’d forgotten just how big he was. Now safely on the wall, pride of place. Taxidermist has done an amazing job.

solid.....yip that sums it up perfectly...a solid head in all ways,the size of all the tines is unique....just solid all over.
Absolute cracker, he sure takes pride and place on the wall.

Dennis Collins in Invercargill. Stag came out area close to border of Southland and Otago, so taxidermy in Southland made sense. The workmanship is top notch.Quote:

Yes, it’s very even - the only difference is the inner top royals, the one on left is longer & slopes inwards more than the right. Will see if I can find it. Really need to get it officially measured.Quote:

Re score. I am sure that you can score it yourself with an assistant. The SCI and Douglas sheets can be downloaded and are pretty simple to follow

Yes that’s what we did to get the initial score of 384, but just scribbled down numbers on sheet of paper as did not printed score sheet.Quote:

Was easily the biggest stag I'd seen also. And seeing the pics really brings home how massive he is.
Quite a pleasure watching my father slot him with his 284win litterly 24 hours after I'd slotted my 242ds fallow.
Both not behind the wire and effectively on a farm

Well done @chainsaw, I have never shot in the roar or gone trophy hunting but I have always thought if I managed to shoot a good stag I would certainly get it taxied.
That is a lovely looking animal and it is great to see he has been immortalized. :thumbsup:
