    Wallow

Hi guys out for a hunt yesterday and checked out a spot I was last in mid April. A couple of wallows were in use then and surprisingly one was yesterday. It had both pig and deer tracks around it and dirty water on ferns etc to a height of 2ft. Some patches of deer hair about too. Sorry no photos as I didn't have my ph with me.It was quite large about bath size or so. My question is do deer use wallows year round?

I watched half a dozen or so hinds use 2 different wallows this weekend, snow patches around them too. I was wondering if the mud helps as a layer of insulation when it dries into their coats perhaps?
