    Wanaka Ballot - Ore Leven

    Hi everyone,

Mates and I have got the Ore-Leven block for the first period this year - would be keen on any advice from people who have been in hunting previously - access options, best valley to hunt, animal elevation etc

Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is our first time hunting the Wanaka blocks.

Easy enough to walk in , don't head for the tops , you can work out a plan from the valley floor , both valleys are good , there is a saddle that is not as bad as it looks on the map

    - [ ] Just got out from the block- thanks to those who responded to my post here and direct messaged me.

    - [ ] As a few people suggested the block has very very low deer numbers but there were a few (not heaps) Cham kicking about up high in the head of the valley.

    - [ ] There is a marked track up the Leven River all the way, which is easy enough to follow for experienced trampers/hunters - starting at the Leven River bridge (true right) walk up the fence till you find a bent warrata then follow the markers. In some sections there are tracks on both sides but we found the track on the true right was far better. Also - forget keeping your boots dry, there are quite a few river crossings which could be a bit challenging if wet.
