Thread: Wanaka blocks 1080

I got the email to say my block (the blue period 3) will be getting 1080'd first opertunity in March.
They have given us the ability to push out our ballot to next year, I havnt hunted the block before but am lead to believe the animal numbers are low anyway.
Does anyone know if its worth commiting a week of holidays to or am I better off looking else where?
I was looking forward to hunting the area for the history but I probably do have other options.

Hi, it's a DOC drop thanks to the lobbying of the new 'Southern lake sanctuary' aka forest and bird.
It's going to be everything in the Makarora area in national park, west of the state highway.
Deer number through the whole area aren't high but slowly getting better, you would have to work for a decent animal even on a good day. Normally about one good head from each block every year and that's about it.
Alpine heli are still doing waro, but don't get them all.
