Thread: Wanaka roar blocks- Forbes

Hi I've managed to get the forbes ballot block for the wanaka roar ballot and have never been up the hunter valley myself so looking for any information relating to the block to make the most of my partys time in there. any info would be appreciated even photos of the terrain

Hey mate, iv never hunted that block but have have been below, amazing there's a few pictures on Google of the head of the creeks from memory, I have bee told the north branch is the better deer country from people who have been in there, out of curiosity what period did you get?

Good hut ,in the right place , airstrip or helicopter is the only access
Hard to traverse along the tops because the side creeks interfere with travel , but not to hard to get to the tops.
The left branch looking upstream is nicer country , the right branch has better side creeks
Wind blows down valley in the mornings but up valley during the day
Low numbers but a chance of a giant stag or chamois
