Thread: Wap river , final period

Have dine a bit of research, and everyone loves rum gully etc. But my thoughts are that the first few groups of people would of hit it. So I'm thinking of going.up and around this area. Anyone tried this ridge track that's in here ?? Any pros and cons to getting up here ? Is it possible to get up here ? Thinking besides glassing in the way through, but thinking if mainly targeting the yellow cirlced area from above ?

From the hut to the tops on that route is pretty good, still very steep in places if you loose the old track. The route you show should be doable, not sure what your experience is in that type of country, or more importantly what the weakest person in your parties experience is, but it ain’t going to be easy. You will be pretty exposed weather depending also

No experience in wapiti river sorry, but before you head in, call all the previous parties and see if they come forward with any info on where they hunted and their findings - we found this absolutely invaluable. Have a cracking trip, epic block!

From the hut go upstream till you hit the one from the canyon ck saddle. Once across the ck head up to the top via the wap trail, it's dead easy, if you go up behind the hut(thomson) it can get steepish and the wind will follow you down the face below the saddle scaring the animals underneath you.

Nice, I’ve been in the block twice, certainly some nice animals about but like all blocks a lot of animals like the one old mate lars shot above. It takes a bit more patience to get something that is actually worth putting on the wall

Did you get that animal aged?
