not really a 2, 3 or 4 year old stags still has significantly more meat but also the issue is not helis shooting all the big ones. Sure they shoot a few stunners the issue is them shooting out the younger age class stags before they become the older larger stags. I honestly think stopping the harvest of older mature stags would do almost nothing to help improve herds.

the population would still be getting controled, after all its the Mums that make the bambis....... the green factor for want of a better term should be able to live with that.... the operators wont like it particularly much as the big boys have biggest body weights, but hinds and spikers are still on the table to harvest.... IF they did this MAYBE would regain some work ferrying hunters into hills....
not too many operators loose business for doing WARO look at james scot for example who part owns or owns a pet food operation and it one of the most well regarded heli pilots by hunters. If you didnt use pikots that WARO alot of the country wouldnt have any heli options at all.
which brings up the next point and possibly the single biggest problem/issue with current set up.....if a WARO operator is allowed to shoot animals, land and pick them up in an area...HOW is it then not ok to drop someone off in same spot without a permit to do so????? that single STUPID rule prevents recreational harvesters from easier access to alot of country that might just be controlled better if thing were changed...
100% this is a wierd rule but im not really into opening up these areas to fly in hunters as its pretty obvious fly in hunters dont control numbers as they too are typically targetting stags and are less frequent visitors. You can already fly into a huge portionof the country which make finding remote undisturbedplaces exceedingly difficult especiallyin the roar etc.
end of day I would rather see animal swinging on a hook than rotting in a creek and even search n destroy is better than poisoning, because it COULD be done semi selectively EG leaving mature male animals....
i can see the sentiment and in areas posions hit hard id probably agree and dislike poison as a whole but to be fair poison is less likely to kill stags purely due to body size and amount required to ingest whereas waro especiallyin spring summer are far more likely to take stags. I thi k using poison to control deer is cruel but id usually rather hunt post 1080 than post a summer of waro. (In the places i hunt)
