Thread: Washing hunting clothes. (Real men can scroll on past)

Hey just wondered what everyone uses for washing hunting clothes?

I used to use a liquid soap which apparently had no UV brightners, (which supposedly make your clothes more visible to deer) and it was non scented, which l prefer.
I only used a half cap for a typical load, so it lasted for ever.
Actually not forever, because I’ve run out, and it doesn’t seem to be on the market any more. I don’t want to use our general household detergent which promises the brightest whites.

Interested to hear what you’re using.

Same stuff the rest of my clothes are washed with. Don’t buy into the marketing, it’s a waste of money.

Don't use anything other than water, there's no need.

Just whatever the rest of our stuff at home is being washed with.

Some type of sportswash I got from a hunting shop, when I can be bothered/remember.
Otherwise just the usual Persil.

+1 for the throwing it in with the normal stuff. Have heard that baking soda is worth a crack if your that worried about it

Now into the Miele washing machine with their detergent, clothes come out bright, smell great and I have never shot so many deer.

Just chuckem in the wash, the deer won't know the difference.

I put mine in the magic basket and then they appear in the other magic basket in our spare room.

Yeah, thats the stuff I sometimes use. GC and H&F both sell it, as does Gunworks

Dishwashing liquid and hot/warm water

Gets the fat out of your clothes from carrying fatty legs/backsteaks

Cold wash with normal washing powder to get blood out.

lux soap flakes as they are a soap not a detergent. mix them with hot water to dissolved then add to a cold wash

ya can buy into the bullshit about supposed detergents advertised as hunting wash and claims of benefits from using them to avoid UV glare etc but at end of day if you fuck up your wind direction or exposé yourself out on a ridge and spook ya deer- then no matter what ya used useless

Here's why I prefer soda ash aka washing soda aka sodium carbonate. Persil bottle showing spills under UV light. Check out those UV reflecting brighteners! Apparently they do reduce the amount of UV that reaches your skin, so they aren't all bad.

Edit... And real men can do laundry... it's the first skill I mastered in the army!
