Go with a recognised brand (camelback or platypus), the cheap stuff lasts for about 5 minutes. Ridgeline bladder tore at the pipe/bag join the first time I put it into my pack...
The only water bag that I think will survive bush bashing on the outside of a pack is the MSR dromedary type bags.
You also need a bottle, or reservoir if you are collecting dirty water, either to store until you boil it or filter it.
My current setup is a 2lt camelback that moves between my daypack and tramping pack, a 2lt foldup platypus bottle for collecting "dirty" water, and for long trips/static camp site I have a 4lt MSR dromedary. Both the secondary containers are light, and fold flat when not in use.
