This week: looking for Hunting buddy and/or renting/loan of rifle

Hallo guys. I’m from Denmark and currently around Queenstown. I am looking for a hunting buddy who wants to come hunting Tahr or Chamois. I have my camper with me and I am therefore very open and flexible with time and where to hunt.
I also have my Visitor firearm license and therefore allowed to go hunting on my own if you want to rent/loan a rifle.
I have already been hunting with Aaron (IamHackMeat) and stayed with his family and had a really good time!
Let me know what you think will be possible.
Hit me here, on my mail (magnusmarger@hotmail.com) or phone (+4561718255)
I hope to hear from you, Magnus from Denmark

If you don't find a buddy, might have to buy a second hand rifle and the deal being with the owner that he takes it back at discount.

@SmokeyJason yes I would have done that, but with a visitor license I’m only allowed to buy bullets… I can buy a gun… so that can only be possible if someone will buy it for me, and then sell it again for me…that can also be possible

That is bizarre , I did not think you were able to acquire a gun anymore on a visitors licence. But I might be wrong.

So what’s the point of a visitors license? You can borrow, not buy, or only hunt with some with you a use their rifle? I thought we were safer without the semi autos, the trust thing goes both ways

@Maca49 yes correct but you can also bring your own rifle from your country. I just didn’t do that as I am traveling a lot around hoping to hunt different places

Give Mark at desert guns Cromwell a bell as he may have something you can rent out. He's a good bugger.

Visitors with firearms license cannot buy a firearm.

I tried to sell my rifle to a guy from Australia who had a firearms license, and it was not allowed. I spoke to the arms office AND Customs.

I had to send the rifle to a gun dealer who then delivered it to the airport for checking in when the guy left the country. All other licenses and documentation were perfect.

So you can byo, hire, borrow, use and buy ammo but not buy a firearm?!? Hmmm logic is not a strong point of these rules (or a great so many others).

Magnus hunted with a forum member in the South Island and then borrowed a rifle from another forum member while he was hunting solo in the South Island. Then he hunted with me while he was in Wellington. So he probably can't really give any advice about hiring a rifle.
