Thread: West coast chamois

Trying to get any advise I can on chamois here on the west coast, I'm after my first chamois ever so I know nothing. (And I'm chasing with a bow) im in Franz Josef currently but weathers looking to turn rotten on Sunday and I dont have much time left here so im desperate to get after it. Went up and down a couple creeks and rivers the last couple days and this morning with lots of sign but didnt see anything, what am I doing wrong? am I in the right area? Anyone wanna go for a hunt and show me how it's done?

It is peak rut now. Too hard with a bow unless you're extremely lucky.

Summer is the time to hunt them with a bow.
Any of the creeks in that area have chamois. They will be in small groups and to be fair they are all very alert.
They get hounded a lot.
