Thread: West Coast Tahr and or Chamois hunt

Hi everyone,
I hate to do this but I'm starting to get a little concious of time slipping away to organise this. My bro and I are coming over to NZ in March for a hunt for tahr, chamois or whatever we can find. We are planning on going to the west coast and I've heard James Scott is the man to call about getting flown in.
the only problem is we have no idea where to go or where to ask James Scott to take us. I'm not asking for your favourite spot but can anyone suggest somewhere to go where we are likely to find some tahr or chamois? I'd be happy with a 9" bull tahr or a 7" chamois doesn 't need to be a monster just looking forward to a good trip and to see a few animals. I'm just worried about how far ahead we have to book the chopper in and I need to know whether to book a hire car from Christchurch and accommodation etc.
If anyone can either post here or pm me a spot I'd really appreciate it and as I've said before I would be more than happy to repay anyone the favour if they wanted to chase a sambar with me over here one day.
At the end of the day if we could even shoot a nanny tahr or a chamois doe we'd be over the moon and I'll be taking it home to be done up by my taxi. I know and agree that a trip is not all about getting something everytime but its just a big trip for us to come over so I'd love to go somewhere where I can get to see a few animals and hopefully a crack at one.
