    western ruahines

hey all due to the recent weather events most places in hawkes bay are cut off and there is very little places you can go hunt (correct me if im wrong as I havent checked for a week or so) so I was wondering how the western ruahines held up and if the areas are open what are some decent spots.
Sadly I wasnt able to go hunting during January due to my rifle being cerakoted and some other reasons so im chomping at the bit to get out there and go bush.

    cheers

I think doc have closed most off the huts on western side & the pohangina valley east road closed so that takes out a big part off the western side witch is a bugger tararuas mite be better but I'm guessing that what evers open there going be a lot off people as there is not meany place to go for us lower north island battless

Walk in to the Kaimanawas on the southern access corridor

Thousands of square km in there to hunt

Learn the map and the doc land boundaries

    Stunning Sika country

I'm going to check out north western side tomorrow. For the area DOC site says its open but high chance of Hut/Track damage and be prepared to turn back. Cockie said roads open, can only look and give it a go..

I went for a quick look around mid western last week. Track was open, but there were some gnarly slips around. I could get around them, but they weren’t exactly what I’d call stable. Bit overhangs, so I expect more will come down when we get a decent rain.

I’m picking that DOC will have the place closed for quite some time.
