what are deer doing in certain seasons and weather?

I am going bush tomorrow and it will be drizzle most of the day and after the rain today my thoughts are that deer would be making use of wallows since it has been so hot and dry lately? What are deer doing this time this year? Any advice would be great. Im heading for the pureoras.

    Cheers

when you get home..go to library or better still the book store and get "stalking the seasons around" by Lentle and Saxton
they have 4 really great books that answer most questions really well in a way even dipsticks like me understand it.

I know I will be harassing the shit out of them.

Firstly they will be feeding, then they will find somewhere for a sleep. Then more food and more sleep, they may sleep where they eat and eat where they sleep, or travel for both. Some will be high some will be low, go into your chosen spot, find some sign and follow it until it ends in a deer standing in front of you, that could be a wallow. In the punga guts or guts of mahoe and whitey wood. Either way get out, enjoy it and most of all have fun and be safe

The main reason i am asking is because i know where a handful of wallows are but they are a fair way in the scrub and i want to know if it likely to be worth the walk or if i should cover some new ground in preparation for the roar

Yesterday I got hunting fallow deer in nz book, and read it.
It's by grandad from the other pub. $40
    Good for a wet day.
