I have shot most of my Bulls under 200yrds.my best at 80 ish
Good advice above but remember your uphill down hill shooting if it is steep.
You can still over shoot animals inside 300 yrds with a 300 zero in cals like .308 etc.

Perhaps you should keep your 100yd zero.

That gives an effective "aim bang on" range of 150m for a tennis ball sized target. You dont want to be estimatng and trying to aim 8 cm low for mid range targets when you havent been used to doing it in the past. As said above, the majority of successful shots at tahr are under 200m. from 150 to 250m you need to make some sort of call - eg is it closer to 200 or 300 ? Beyond 250m you need a rangefinder and use a drop chart.

Glass is very important and as you hunt in the ureweras i'm guessing you arent using a dial up scope. Supposing youve got 6 or 7x at the top end, I suggest not to get another scope just use what you're familar with.

The milk bottle practice idea is good and also put a few on paper first to see where you are. Know your limits in wind and awkward shooting and dont be afraid to pass on a 400m shot if it doesnt look good. You'll get your whack if you can shoot solid to 200.

i would just practice at 200 an 300 and see where your hitting with current set up. but a few inchs high at 100 wouldnt harm to take the hold over factor in under 300. I also think that its always possible to get closer tahr hunting. Ive been at 7m to a bull with the bow. just take more time

I have hunted for many years with the "flying brick" 308win.
2 inches high at 100 should put you on at 200-220 and 6-8 inches low at 300,
3 inches high at 100 gives you point and shoot on the shoulder from zero to 300 with no thinking about drops/trajectory with a 150gr.

Have you tried the 208 amax ?

I might shorten and suppress a t3 after reaming it to 300 saum just for the 208 amax.

No, in the short actions I have had it takes up too much room in the case, could be good in a long action like the T3 seated out.
Greg got some reasonably good numbers with the 208 recently but I forget the details.
