    What tents is everyone using

Looking at getting something for the colder months on the tops. Ideally wanting something with enough room for a couple people and a little room for ya gear to get out of the weather.

Not looking for something which is going to break the bank either

    Cheers

Terra Nova Zephyros but its not roomy enough for 2 even though its billed as a 2 person tent.

Weighs 1.8Kg and is very stable, but it isn't freestanding.

Kuiu Mountain Star for me also

    Easy pitch
    Slightly adjustable ventilation
    No flapping
    Good vestibles
    Well made

I went lighter but it also meant smaller and the materials just aren't up to real world hunting in the South Island
Ultralight is fine for walkers and 2 season hunting with shelter
Save the weight somewhere else but not in your tent

I've got the Macpac Minaret, I wouldn't recommend it as a two person due to one side of the tent floor being longer than the other. it's also pretty heavy.
But as a 1 person tent it's spacious and has plenty of room for the dog and pack to be inside the tent.

Another here with a macpac mineret, great one person tent but heavy at 2.4kg. Not recommended for 2 men but I spent a night in mine with my 15yo son last week and we fitted in with his 40 litre pack and my pack and our boots, food and cooking gear in the vestibule. It's not the best entrance in wet weather either.

For 2 man hunts the good old MSR HubbaHubba still going strong, but realistically a 3 season tent. For solo hunts scored a Montbell 1.5 person a few years back, only ~1.7kg all up and heaps of room for one & all your gear. Would fit 2 easy but no room for gear.

Two person, four season, won't brake the bank. Another vote for the Macpac Olympus (as long as you get one on sale). I got mine for 60% off. Worth every cent.

Hey mate, I recently just went through this myself. Was after a new tent but with a few decent purchases lately, I wasn't too keen to spend massive $$$ on the likes of MSR etc. I ended up going with a "Tracker 2" from intent outdoors. Really really happy with it myself. Has already had a decent few outings and some good downpours and no complaints whatsoever and it's a fraction of the price. I couldn't recommend highly enough.

Not sure I would consider it a 4 season tent and not sure how it would hold up in snowy conditions particularly where you are down south but their range is def worth a look. Mine is a 2 person but as others have said, Im not a big guy by any means and it comfortably fits me and my gear and thats it. I would look at 3 person upwards for what you're after. That would be the case for any brand in my experience.

Same. Olympus for winter, MSR nook for light, 3 season. Also recently got a 6 Moons Haven bundle for two people in summer.

I have been looking at the Haven bundle too.
Interested in how you find it.
Plenty of reviews but all overseas not NZ weather.

Horizon 8000 Ultralight 2 Person Tent, 3-4-season, a clone of the MSR Hubba Hubba NX Tent V8, retails at around half the price of the MSR and you can pick them up on special for even cheaper. I've had no issues with it, and I've put it through its paces. Comes in at a minimum weight i.e. summer set-up (fly, pole, 8 pegs, bag) 1.3kg, whole hog maximum weight (entire packaged tent) 2kg.
